As soon as the snow and ice allow to do so, it is possible to experience the unique nature from a dog sledge pulled by real Greenland dogs.

The dogs live in harmony with nature and are not pets. The passengers should therefore keep an appropriate distance and not approach the dogs without the permission of the coachman.

When you have had a ride in a dog sledge where you have felt an authentic glimpse of the past and felt in harmony with nature, you will never be the same again.

It is not possible to describe a ride in a dog sledge - it is something you simply have to try out yourself!

There are many possibilities when it comes to dog sledge rides - e.g. from rides lasting two hours and rides lasting several weeks.

The dog sledge season is from the middle of December to the end of April.

"Benbrækkeren" (the Bone Breaker)

Duration: 2 - 3 hours. Price: DKK 425 - DKK 500

A beautiful ride to the foot of the hill north east of Sisimiut without any ascent to hills or mountains. The ride goes from lake to lake out to the Benbrækkeren. Here you will get a chance to experience what it is like to use an old means of transportation, which is many centuries old.

The Qiterlinnguaq or Qerrortusup Majoriaa

Duration: 3 - 5 hours. Price: DKK 625 - 700

An exiting ride to the point "Qiterlinnguaq" where you may have some coffee and tea. From here you may see Kangerluarsuk Tulleq (Førstefjord (the first inlet)) and to the south of the town and to the top of the hill "Kællingehætten" (the old woman's hood). You will experience riding in hilly ground with steep slopes and hill sides. It is a beautiful and peaceful experience where the driver, the dogs and nature form a synthesis. During the ride it will also be possible to see grouses and hares.

A breathtaking eventful ride where you first ride to the point "Qiterlinnguaq". From here you may see Kangerluarsuk Tulleq (the first inlet) and the south of the town and to the top of the hill "Kællingehætten" (the old woman's hood).
Afterwards, the ride continues down by the north side of the hill and by the inlet ice to the head of Kangerluarsuk Tulleq (the first inlet).

The dog sledge trip between Kangerlussuaq and Sisimiut is a remarkable opportunity to experience adventure. During the three days you will get a chance to get a very close relationship with the driver and the sledge dogs. You will feel the close relationship between them and get an insight into very old traditions of sledge riding. During the ride, you will get a chance to observe the Greenlandic nature with its varied ground, experience extremely low temperatures, bright sunshine, northern lights or a snowstorm. You will get close to the Arctic animal life with reindeer, grouses and hares. You will sleep in cabins and/or tents.

Expedition across the Inland Ice

The expedition is a magnificent and very unique experience which only a few people will try their strengths against.
The Inland Ice has been there for thousands of years and you will experience the total quietness and how it is to ride for several days without seeing any living creature but yourself and the dogs. Either you will start from Sisimiut by the west coast or in Kangerlussuaq and ride to Isortoq in East Greenland or vice versa. The ride is 730km. It is important that you are in a rather good shape, as you cannot expect to sit on the sledge all the time. During the ride you may experience powerful snowstorms where you may risk to get stuck for at couple of days. You will sleep in tents.
